  • How do I interact with Bea?

    Using Bea is easy! Just type and she will automatically respond. If she stops responding, you may have a poor internet connection and need to wait to continue chatting until you are at a place with a better connection.

    How do I complete the three guided activities?

    To access the three guided activities, tap on the icon with the small four circles on the lower left side of the screen. A screen will then appear, allowing you to select which activity you would like to complete.

    What is open chat?

    You’ll engage in an open dialogue with Bea about any food question powered by our elite proprietary knowledge database crafted by the foremost experts in the field. 

    How does Bea help improve my eating habits?

    Bea helps with your eating habits by systematically challenging your mindset to think differently about food. She does this through three research-based activities that allow you to identify hunger, acknowledge triggers, and understand how your body feels in response to food.

    What are the three guided activities?

    Bea unleashes a potent blend of scientifically backed therapy techniques specifically engineered to turbocharge your weight loss journey for lasting success. Our method uses these three activities:

    • Knowledge: Teaches you mindfulness eating techniques by reducing food cravings, overeating that leads to weight loss

    • Motivation: A form of questioning behaviors that transforms ambivalence into powerful motivation for change, addressing the core challenges in behavioral health and addiction. 

    • Meditation: Helps you reframe your relationship with food and develop healthier eating habits, making it extremely valuable in promoting lasting change.


    Are there specific dietary restrictions or preferences supported by Bea?

    Bea does not support any specific restrictions but will help you identify what types of foods and eating habits will work best for you.


    How often should I chat with Bea to see the results?

    The more, the better! Chatting with Bea regularly will continue to change your mindset, which will in turn change your mentality around food more rapidly. We recommend chatting with her and completing all three activities at least once per day.


    Is Bea Better Eating suitable for individuals with eating disorders or specific medical conditions?

    While Bea is not meant in any way as a treatment for eating disorders or any other mental or medical condition, the mindful eating tools taught by Bea are general tools that could be helpful for anyone to learn. If you think you have an eating disorder, we recommend that you reach out to a mental health professional.  


    Is Bea Better Eating considered therapy?

    Bea Better Eating was developed by psychologists to provide tools for improved eating habits, but it does not offer therapy or replace professional treatment. Bea is presented as a non-therapeutic self-help resource. If you suspect you have an eating disorder or could benefit from psychotherapy, please click here to locate a therapist near you.


    Will Bea help me lose weight?

    Bea’s goal is to help you with your mindset around food and not to focus on your weight. If your relationship with food leads to unhealthy weight gain, however, it is reasonable to expect that healing your relationship will lead to a more balanced and healthy weight.


    How does the running streak feature work?

    Your run streak records the number of sessions you have completed in a row/consecutively.

     Here’s a breakdown of how the run streak is counted:

    1. It will increase by 1 with every activity you complete by midnight local time.

    2. Openly chatting with Bea counts as 1 after interacting with her for at least 3 minutes.

    3. You complete any of the following sessions, which are counted towards the run streak: Openly chatting with Bea, Meditation, Knowledge, and Motivate activities

    As long as you complete an activity daily, your counter should keep going up after each session.

    Here are some ways your run streak may reset:

    1. If more than a day has elapsed (24+ hours) since your last completed session, your run streak could reset to zero.

    2. If you've placed your device in "Airplane Mode" for an extended duration or traveled across time zones.

    3. You might have encountered a technical glitch preventing you from finishing your daily meditation.

    4. You've engaged in a brief chat session with Bea, lasting less than three minutes.

    What are Bea Better Eating’s safety precautions?

    Your safety and privacy is very important to us. While we cannot formally diagnose or detect all instances of distress, we do our best to use our AI technology to identify when you need more help than we can provide and find you the right resources.

    How do you pronounce Bea?

    Our AI has a personalized pronunciation for her name, preferring to be addressed as "BEE-ah." It adds a unique touch to her identity and reflects her individuality.


    When will Bea Better Eating be available for Android?

    We are working diligently to release Bea to Android. Please stay tuned for news related to our Android release.


    Can I use Bea instead of doing mental health therapy?

    Bea is not therapy or a therapist. While clinical psychologists trained Bea, she is a mindful eating coach and does not treat or diagnose mental health or physical conditions.
